On behalf of HB 2417, and companion SB 1627 sponsors, Representative Ruth Balser, Representative Paul Donato and Senator Michael Moore, the MA Fire Sprinkler Coalition is inviting you and your staff members to attend a “Virtual Listening Session” that will provide  factual information regarding home fire sprinkler systems and answer any questions in reference to the House and Senate Bills that you might have.

  • Introductory comments from Representative Ruth Balser and Senator Michael Moore ( Bill sponsors)

  • MA Fire Sprinkler Coalition Chair, Chief Paul Zibikowski, Ret will provide introduction, purpose and intent of the presentation.

  • Gary Keith will provide an overview of the U.S. Coalition’s efforts on educational efforts and also on why we need this important legislation and why homes burn so fast. ( Gary was a NFPA VP and started the Fire Sprinkler Initiative. He recently retired from FM Global and currently is with the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition and an active Board member). 

  • Introduction of Hopkinton Officials and comments by Representative Carolyn Dykema.

  • The Hopkinton Experience. Panel discussion on the success of the Town of Hopkinton to include residential fire sprinklers in new homes. Panel will consist of Fire Officials and Town Officials.

  • Diana Tenney , President of New England Burn Survivors will introduce Boston Shriners Hospital for Children, Burn Surgeon, Doctor Colleen Ryan who will provide insight to burn injuries and the lifelong effects etc. This panel will have Phoenix Society for Burn Survivors’, Rob Feeney. Rob is with Onset, MA Fire Department, and a Station Nightclub fire survivor.

  • Coalition Chair to discuss HB 2417, and companion SB 1627.

  • Conclusion and Q&A.
